As The Crow Flies

I recently completed a carrion crow commission for a milestone birthday. One of the loveliest things about commission work is that there's usually an interesting story attached, and this was one of those.

Some time ago the recipient had found a rejected and injured carrion crow fledgeling and reared it, finally releasing it when it was an adult. During its youth and recuperation, the crow became part of the family and was much missed when it took its maiden flight into the wild.
