Australian Ringneck Parrot

Australian Ringneck Parrot

I painted this parrot last year, as a gift for someone who sees these colourful birds often, being a resident of Western Australia.

The Australian ringneck (Barnardius zonarius) is also known as the 'Twenty-Eight Parrot' due to its call sounding like "28!". There are four different subspecies of this bird, found across most of Australia, with varying colourations but all share the mainly green plumage and yellow neck ring.
