I just had to paint a pacific black duck after admiring one recently in the Sydney Botanic Gardens. This one waddled over and, with leg stretched and toes pointed back like a ballerina, spread its wing out in a stretch, revealing the most beautiful iridescent feathers which ranged from deep teal through to rich purple.
