An original artwork of a Greater Spotted Woodpecker by Amanda Gosse.
A striking black and white bird with bright red lower belly and nape, the greater spotted woodpecker is widely seen across Britain, Europe and further beyond. Unlike the green woodpecker, this bird spends most time on trees, rather than foraging on the ground. It bounces in flight and along branches and can be heard drumming on trees when making nesting holes. Read more about the artwork in my blog.
