Commission a Custom Painting – Gouache Bird Art or a Yesteryear Piece
If you’re looking for a unique piece of art for yourself or as a gift for someone, I now offer commission work, so perhaps I can help with a bespoke painting. I am a professional artist, working in high quality gouache on smooth, 300gsm watercolour paper.
Bird Paintings
Birds are at the heart of my practice. I create lifelike portraits, reminiscent of 19th century studies. Whether you would like a painting of a favourite species or wish to start a collection of bird artworks, please feel free to contact me via the form below, to discuss your requirements.
The Yesteryear Collection
Alongside my birds and nature subjects, I am developing a new series called Yesteryear. This collection comprises sentimental items that hold meaning across generations, such as old family photographs, jewellery, heirlooms, or keepsakes. If you have an object or memory you would like preserved as a painting, I can create an artwork that encapsulates its story. These pieces make thoughtful gifts and lasting tributes to personal history.
Other Subjects
As well as birds and Yesteryear pieces, I’m happy to consider other subjects. Not every subject suits my way of working, so please contact me with your idea and a photo, and I’ll let you know whether it’s something I can paint for you.
Commission Prices
Each commission is painted in gouache and coloured pencil on high-quality 300gsm watercolour paper, in one of three square sizes:
10 x 10 cm miniature
£150 unframed, or £170 framed in a black frame with a soft white mount
20 x 20 cm
£275 unframed, or £300 framed in a black frame with a soft white mount
30 x 30 cm
£500 unframed, or £550 framed in a choice of black, bronze or gold finish
Prices include UK postage. For delivery outside the UK, postage is charged separately; please see shipping page.
If your painting is for a special occasion, please let me know the date you need it by when enquiring. Paintings usually take 2–3 weeks to complete, with framed 30cm paintings requiring a further 7–14 working days for framing.
How the Commission Process Works
Commissioning a painting is a collaborative and enjoyable process via email. Here’s what you can expect:
1. Initial Enquiry – Please send me your idea and any reference photos, via the form below.
2. Discussion & Quote via email – We’ll agree the size, framing and composition, and I’ll confirm the price and an estimated completion date.
3. Reference Material – For personal objects, I work from clear photographs provided by you; for birds, I will research and source reference to work from.
4. Deposit – A 25% deposit of the total is required before work begins on your artwork.
5. Creation – Once details are agreed and deposit is received, I begin the painting.
6. Delivery – Your artwork will be carefully packaged and shipped to you.
