The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the most iconic and recognisable animals on earth – the largest of Africa's big cats, renowned for its power, social structure and distinctive mane. Once widespread across Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia, lion populations have declined significantly in recent decades due to habitat loss, prey depletion and human conflict, and the species is now classified as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. I've painted this one in gouache and coloured pencil, aiming to capture the lion's majesty in a miniature format.
