Detail of 'Sydney' an original painting by Amanda Gosse

A New Collection – Yesteryear

I am currently working on a new collection of gouache paintings which combine antique and vintage photographs and images with jewellery and small objects of meaning… and sometimes small creatures!

I have a deep interest in antique and vintage jewellery, particularly Australian, which I love to paint as much as birds.

In 2004 I founded an online charm shop, which I still run and, as well as new and unusual charms, I offer antique and vintage charms. During the more than twenty years that I have been running the business and hunting for rare, pre-loved charms, I’ve also had the privilege of helping some of my customers build charm bracelets which tell stories of their lives, often resulting in a physical timeline around their wrist! For example, the birth of children, special holidays, graduations, precious pets, anniversaries, hobbies and interests… the things which a charm can symbolise are endless.

My new collection of paintings is an extension of this and, in addition to my own compositions, I paint artworks for people to remember loved ones and to mark special milestones. But, as I detailed above, there are many variations that could bloom into an idea.

Examples of some of these paintings can be seen below. If you would like to discuss an idea for a painting like this, please email me and I’d be glad to go through some ideas with you.
