The Australian raven (Corvus coronoides) is a glossy black corvid found across most of Australia, with distinctive bluish-white eyes and shaggy throat hackles. These charismatic birds are highly intelligent and their call is extraordinarily resonant—almost human in quality. I've painted this one in gouache and coloured pencil, aiming to capture the depth and sheen of its black plumage in fine detail.
