Dusky Woodswallow Painting

The dusky woodswallow (Artamus cyanopterus) is a beautiful bird, chocolate brown to dark grey with white wing accents, found across much of south-eastern Australia and southern Western Australia. Although visually swallow-like, it actually belongs to the Artamidae family—the same family as the Australian magpie, butcherbird and currawong. I've painted this one in gouache and coloured pencil, capturing the subtle tones of its plumage in fine detail.
