The Flame Robin (Petroica phoenicea) is a small Australian passerine in which the male is strikingly marked with a vivid orange-red breast and throat contrasting with dark grey-black upperparts, while the female is a much plainer brown. It breeds in the cooler, higher-altitude forests and woodlands of south-eastern Australia, migrating to lower elevations and open country during autumn and winter.
