A study of a Flame Robin, an original gouache painting by Amanda Gosse.

The Flame Robin, scientific name Petroica phoenicea, is a small bird found in southeastern Australia, identifiable by its vibrant red-orange breast and throat and dark grey head and body and striking white wing markings. During the winter months, some migrate to lower altitudes, where they can be spotted in open woodlands and grassy areas, feeding on insects and small arthropods.
