The New Holland honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae) is a nectar and insect-feeding bird distributed across southern Australia, easily identified by its striking plumage, which is black, white and brown streaked, with bright yellow panels on the wings and tail. I've painted this one in gouache and coloured pencil, capturing the bold contrast of its markings in fine detail.
