Bird Fine Art Giclée Print – Stonechat
The stonechat (Saxicola rubicola) is a bird of open landscapes – heathland, coastal scrub, and rolling farmland – where it has a habit of perching prominently on the tops of gorse and bracken, making it a favourite with birders and walkers alike. The male in summer plumage is a particularly beautiful sight: jet black head, bold white collar, and a rich orange-rufous chest. Its call is a sharp, distinctive “tac-tac” sound, often compared to two small stones being knocked together, hence its name.
This giclée reproduction print, from an original gouache painting: Stonechat (2024), captures the male stonechat in fine detail – a portrait of one of Britain's prettiest small birds.
